My name is Jamin Gray and I’m a 29-year-old blogger from St. Louis, MO. As a child I was home schooled and spent a great deal of time at the library. I was always drawn to the books on memory improvement, science, and electronics. I wanted to know how the world worked and I wanted to make it work better for me. But I also gravitated towards the books on magic tricks and the gimmicks for sale in the back of Boys Life magazine that promised to give me x-ray vision, produce smoke from my fingertips, or teach me to throw my voice. I didn’t have to be lost in Middle Earth or Narnia (although those are fantastic places in which to be lost) to have a sense of wonder at the world around me.
As I’ve grown older I spend less time on amusing tricks and gimmicks and more time trying to figure out how to avoid forgetting to pay the bills, or how to boil an egg just right. But that sense of wonder is still there. And the world is a very, very cool place.
